HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's soccer team (5-3-0) will open conference play against Western Kentucky (4-2-1) on Saturday, September 21. The Golden Eagles and the Lady Toppers will kick-off at 4:00 p.m. (CT) at the WKU Soccer Complex in Bowling Green, Ky.
The last time out
The last time that the Golden Eagles took the pitch, they came away with a 2-0 victory over Jackson State on Sunday (September 15).
Junior midfielder Jenny Caracheo who has proven to be an offensive weapon for the Golden Eagles this season, netted a goal in the 15th minute of play to give Southern Miss a 1-0 lead.
Southern Miss picked up an insurance goal early in the second half after redshirt senior defender/midfielder Jacky Manteas found the back of the net, extending the Golden Eagles' lead to 2-0 over the Tigers.
Led by reigning C-USA Defensive Player of the Week Caitlin Pierce, Southern Miss notched its fourth consecutive shutout of the season.

- Junior goalkeeper Kendell Mindnich turned in her first clean sheet of the season on Sunday after spending a full 90 minutes in the net.
- After leading the Southern Miss defense in shutouts against Auburn and Jackson State, junior defender Caitlin Pierce was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 15.
- Monday (September 16) marked the first time that Pierce has garnered C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors during her Southern Miss career.
- Pierce is the first Southern Miss women's soccer player to earn any of the weekly C-USA awards this season. Prior to Pierce earning C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, Kendell Mindnich was the last Golden Eagle to earn one of the weekly C-USA awards. Mindnich was tabbed the C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week on September 17, 2018.
