Golden Eagles Start Outdoor Season Well at Jaguar Opener

The first outdoor meet of the season at South Alabama went well for Southern Miss.
MOBILE, Ala. – The Golden Eagles placed well individually at the Jaguar Opener hosted by South Alabama in the first outdoor meet of the season.
The Golden Eagles came away with one first place finisher, several third place finishers, and many others in the top 10 of their events.
Women's
100m Hurdles – Jasmine Griffin finished in third place with a time of 14.68. Marquasha Myers was not far behind, coming in fourth at 14.71. Callie Jones rounded out the Golden Eagle runners for the event, finishing in ninth at 15.31.
400m – Taylor Harris finished in sixth with a time of 58.27. Ola Akinniyi and Aireanna Taylor finished within seconds of each other, Akinniyi in eighth at 59.93 and Taylor in ninth at 1:00.07.
100m – Keiyana Gaskin placed third with a time of 12.17. Kadaria Thompson came in sixth at 12:32, and Shundoria Hardy placed ninth in 12.59.
400m Hurdles – Jasmine Griffin was the lone runner for the Golden Eagles, finishing in 10th at 1:10.99.
200m – Chenelle Ricketts came in first place, finishing with a time of 24.69. Rian Robinson finished in sixth at 25.38. Callie Jones came in 23rd place at 27.19.
Long Jump – Marquasha Myers came in fourth place with a mark of 5.53m. Callie Jones finished 11th with a jump of 5.30m. Grace Parker came in 13th, her mark at 5.25m.
Men's
110m Hurdles – Christian Strong came in third place at 14.79. Tamrin Hobbs had a sixth-place finish with a time of 15.32. Keionis Spears finished in 13th place at 16.00 flat.
100m – Chedlin Sagesse came in sixth in 10.87. Elijah Burton rounded out the top-15, coming in 14th place with a time of 11.09.
400m Hurdles – Mamadou Seck had a second-place finish at 55.32. Tamrin Hobbs came in 12th place at 58.76. Christian Strong finished in 17th at 1:01.09. Dexter Molden finished in 24th with a time of 1:04.78.
200m – Trey Johnson finished in seventh place with a time of 21.92. Elijah Burton came in 18th place with a time of 22.61. Tyrese Allen rounded out the group in 28th place at 23.32.
