VAIL, Colo. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team finished in 17th place at the Golfweek Conference Challenge (Red Sky Golf Club).
The team had previously improved 13 strokes from Day 1 to Day 2, but were unable to maintain that momentum into the third and final day.
Miranda Holt was the team's top performer Wednesday, collecting three consecutive birdies on Holes 11-13 that allowed her to finish one under par in the back nine. Holt lowered her score over each round of the tourney. Henriette Syr finished the week with the best single-round score on the team, a 2-under 70 Tuesday.
The trip to the chilly high altitudes was the team's first on the Mountain Time Zone since the 2008 Conference USA Championships in El Paso.
The Golden Eagles will look to rebound at the Magnolia Invitational (West Point, Miss.) Oct. 14-16.
