Chompitakdacha's Career-Low Round Highlights Final Day of MountainView Collegiate

SADDLEBROOKE, Ariz. -- Freshman Friend Chompitakdacha carded a career-low 72, also marking a seven-stroke improvement from the previous round, as Southern Miss concluded play in the MountainView Collegiate on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles finished 13th out of a field that not only featured three, top-50 teams, but also saw six squads finish below par for the weekend. Iowa State shattered the tournament 54-hole record with an 836, featuring a 52-under 236 on Sunday. Those two scores broke MountainView Collegiate records by 14 and 10 strokes, respectively, albeit this being the first time in the tournament's 21-year history it was held at the Preserve Golf Club.
Chompitakdacha has played in all three spring tournament since joining the team at the semester break, and her previous career-low was a 73 that opened the UNF Collegiate on March 4. She had a team-high four birdies in today's action.
Chompitakdacha, Miranda Holt and Valentina Haupt each tied for No. 58 with a 10-over 226. Haupt's 69 in the second round Saturday sat as the team's best for the weekend.
UNLV's Polly Mack captured the individual title with a 10-under 206.
Southern Miss will return to the area for its next action, the two-day Memphis Intercollegiate from April 1-2.
