
Southern Miss Falls to North Texas 3-0 on Thursday Afternoon

The Golden Eagles are now 7-2 on the season
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (7-2) (1-1) were defeated by C-USA opponent North Texas (6-1-1) (1-0) by a final score of 3-0 on Thursday afternoon.
Thursday's contest was a physical battle between both teams the entire 90:00 minutes of play. The game remained scoreless until the 19:49 mark in the first half when North Texas' Carissa Sanders scored on an assist from Aaliyah Nolan to put the Mean Green on top 1-0.
The Mean Green netted their second goal of the contest at the 31:01 mark in the first half after Berklee Peters scored on an assist from Natalie Nowell.
Taylor Torres added the final goal of the contest for North Texas with 9:03 remaining in the match, providing the Mean Green with insurance in the final minutes of play.
Southern Miss goalkeeper Kendell Mindnich finished the contest with a career high seven saves. Mindnich was named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in her Southern Miss career on Monday, September 17.
The Golden Eagles will regroup and prepare for their next match against C-USA opponent Florida International University. Southern Miss and FIU will kick off at 6:00 p.m. (CT) on Friday, September 28 in Miami, Fla. Â
