Louisiana Tech Edges Out Southern Miss 2-0 in Regular Season Finale

RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (12-5-2, 5-3-2 C-USA) edged out the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (11-5-1, 5-4-1 C-USA) 2-0 in the regular season finale in Ruston, La. on Friday night.

The first half of Friday's match ended with the Golden Eagles and the Lady Techsters tied 0-0.

The first goal of the match came at the 60:58 mark when Louisiana Tech's Connor Barker scored on a one-touch cross, giving the Lady Techsters a 1-0 lead. Barker was assisted by Nomvula Kgoale.

Barker scored the Lady Techsters second goal of the match 4:37 later after chipping a shot into the right corner of the net. Kgoale was credited with the assist, her second of the match.

Despite the loss, Southern Miss outshot Louisiana Tech 14-9 and also finished the match with a 4-3 corner kicks advantage.

The Golden Eagles will return home to Hattiesburg where they will regroup and prepare for the 2018 C-USA Women's Soccer Tournament.

The tournament will take place in Norfolk, Va. October 31-November 4. Old Dominion will be the tournament host.
