LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team improved three strokes from the second round to finish No. 4 at the 41st-annual FIU Pat Bradley.
Valentina Haupt claimed a fifth-place finish with a 2-under 214, while Cassidy Evreniadis had the best performance of her young Golden Eagle career (seventh, 1-under 215). It marked the second time in program history that two finished below par for a 54-hole tournament. The other instance was Nichada Satasuk (5-under) and Henriette Syr (1-under) at the Kiawah Island Invitational (Feb. 26-28, 2017).
"I'm really proud of our efforts this week," head coach Lucy Nunn said. "We're in a tough stretch right now, but Valentina and Cassidy really stepped up and we are real close to being where we want to be."
Syr finished in a tie for 31st with a solid 6-over 222 in this week's tournament. Evreniadis also had a team-high four birdies in the final round.
The fourth-place finish was the team's best of the season, topping a fifth-out-of-17 ranking in the season-opening USA Intercollegiate.
UTEP took home the team title after improving its three-stroke total each day en route to a 2-under 862. Natalie Villavicencio won the individual crown with a 7-under 209.
Southern Miss concludes its fall season Sunday, Oct. 28 as it begins the two-day Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas.
