Fernandez In Second-Place at Old Waverly Collegiate Classic

West Point, Miss. -- Senior Casey Fernandez is in second-place at six-under after day one of the Old Waverly Collegiate Classic, hosted by Mississippi State. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,088-yard Old Waverly Country Club.
The tournament was suspended during the second round because of lightning and darkness.
Fernandez fired a one-under par 71 in the first round. He is five-under par through 13 holes of the second round. The 71 is his eighth round of par or better this year and the 27th of his career.
The McAlester, Okla., native is one stroke back of tournament leader Tyler Klava of South Alabama.
Southern Miss is 17-over par in a 14th-place tie with Louisiana Tech. The Golden Eagles opened with a 303 and is two-over in the second round. Ole Miss leads the tournament at seven-under par.
Senior Drew Kirby is tied for 55th-place at six-over par. He shot a 78 in the first round and is currently even-par through 12 holes of the second round.
Sophomore Ryan Argotsinger is seven-over par after carding an opening round 77. He is two-over par in the second round through 11 holes.
Junior Hayes Weathersby is in a 77th-place tie, 10-over par. He posted a 77 in the first round and is five-over par through 12 holes. Freshman Vasili Kartos is 22-over par. He opened with an 83 and is 11-over par through 11 holes of the second round.
The second round continues tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with the final round immediately after.
