Men's Golf Holds Big Lead at Samford Intercollegiate

Hoover, Ala. - The Southern Miss men's golf team holds a 16-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Samford Intercollegiate. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,001-yard Hoover Country Club.
The Golden Eagles are one-under par after shooting rounds of 289-286/575, 16 strokes in front of Lipscomb.
Southern Miss has placed four golfers in the top ten, led by senior Casey Fernandez and junior Hayes Weathersby who are tied for the individual lead at two-under par. Fernandez shot carded rounds of 72-70, while Weathersby fired rounds of 74-68.
The two rounds give Fernandez seven rounds of par or better this year and 26 for his career. Weathersby's 68 is a career-best and gives him four rounds of par or better this year. His 54-hole score of 142 is also a career-best.
Sophomore Ryan Argotsinger is tied for third-place at even par after rounds of 72-72/144. His pair of 72's give him a team-high eight rounds of par or better on the year.
Senior Drew Kirby shot rounds of 71-76/147 to tie for ninth-place at three-over par. His round of 71 is his seventh round of par or better this year and the 13th of his career.
Junior Tyler Peggs is tied for 17th-place, six-over par after rounds of 75-75/150 and freshman Vasili Kartos posted rounds of 81-78/167 to sit 15-over par in a tie for 37th-place.
The final round begins at 9 a.m. CT.
