Men's Golf Earns Third Place at Memphis Intercollegiate

Memphis, Tenn. - The Southern Miss men's golf team took home third-place at the Memphis Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played at Colonial Country Club in Memphis Tenn.
The Golden Eagles finished 30-over par, seven shots behind second-place Arkansas-Little Rock.
Redshirt senior Paul Apyan led the Golden Eagles by finishing seven over-par in a tie for 14th-place. Senior Wes Carter and junior Freddie Janneck finished in a tie for 17th-place at eight-over par. Senior Brent Hobbs was 13-over par in a tie for 39th-place, while redshirt sophomore Nick Brown tied for 44th-place at 14-over par.
South Alabama won the team competition at 18-over par. Arkansas-Little Rock took second place at 23-over, followed by Southern Miss. Iowa State was 35-over par in fourth-place. Denver took fifth-place at 36-over par, while Ohio State finished 41-over in sixth. Host Memphis, Mississippi State and Wisconsin all tied for seventh-place at 42-over par.
Maryland finished in 10th-place at 44-over par, followed by Louisville (+45), Penn State (+47), Xavier and Louisiana Tech (+48), Arkansas State (+57) and Louisiana-Lafayette (+58).
The Golden Eagles return to the links next week when they participate in the Aldila Invitational, hosted by Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee State in Chattanooga, Tenn.
