Lady Eagle Soccer Falls to East Carolina, 2-0

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Southern Miss Lady Eagle soccer team was defeated by the East Carolina Pirates, 2-0, on Sunday at Bunting Field.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles move to a 4-10-1 overall record and are 0-6 in conference play. The Pirates improved to 7-6-2 overall.
Sophomore Christina Duvall started in goal for Southern Miss, recording two saves. Sophomore Holly Cox stood in goal for the second half of the game, finishing with three saves.
East Carolina took the lead at the 17:41 mark of the first half when Amy Szilard netted her fifth goal of the season. The Pirates increased their lead to 2-0 at the 27:50 mark of the first half after Szilard scored her second goal of the afternoon.
Southern Miss finished with seven shots and four shots on goal while the Pirates recorded fourteen shots with seven shots on goal. Sarah McFadden lead the Lady Eagles in shots with three, two of those being on goal. Other Lady Eagles recording shots for the game were Sarah Brennan, Liz Hamlin, Megan Kolts and Katie Hall, each having one.
The Lady Eagles return to action at home when they take on Central Florida at noon on Saturday, Oct. 21.
