Rushin comes to Southern Miss after spending the last three seasons at Sikeston High School in Missouri, in which she helped produce five all-state athletes.
Prior to her stint at Sikeston, Rushin worked as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, Missouri, during the 2015-16 year, working with the throws group.
During her collegiate years at Missouri, Rushin was a five-time All-American in the shot put, a two-time SEC Champion, and five-time All-Conference selection. In addition, she hit the No. 2 marks in Mizzou history in the indoor/outdoor shot put and discus. Her personal best marks in college including 17.72 m in the outdoor shotput, 17.61 m in the indoor shot put and 53.39 m in the discus.
In the classroom, Rushin was also a four-time Academic All-American, a three-time SEC All-Academic, a two-time Academic All-Big 12 and the 2014 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Rushin earned her BS in Biology and BA in Religious Studies in 2015 from Missouri.
