Twenty-Two Former Golden Eagles Playing Professional Baseball This Summer

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – It is a busy summer for former Southern Miss baseball players who continue to live their dreams of playing professional baseball.
Twenty-two former Golden Eagles are currently playing on affiliated teams within the 30-team Major League Baseball system, including five currently in Triple A, which is the highest level under playing in the MLB, and one who was called back up to the big leagues on Thursday.
Chuckie Robinson, who has had three previous stints in MLB with the Cincinnati Reds (2022), Chicago White Sox (2024) and last year with the Dodgers, was recalled by the Dodgers and is expected to start tonight against the White Sox in Chicago.
Those five others include Dustin Dickerson (Omaha, Kansas City), Matthew Etzel (Jacksonville, Miami), Nick Sandlin (Toledo, Detroit), Reed Trimble (Norfolk, Baltimore) and Matt Wallner (St. Paul, Minnesota).
That number of professionals should increase later this summer when the MLB First-Year Player Draft takes place July 11-12 as part of the league's All-Star festivities in Philadelphia, Pa.
The current professional Golden Eagles are listed below with their current team and playing level, as well as their MLB organization that they are a member. Their year drafted as well as when is also included for the listing. If the year drafted reads UDFA, that means
undrafted free agent.
