HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss senior right-handed pitcher Colby Allen (Louisville, Miss.) and sophomore right-hander Camden Clark (Laurel, Miss.) were each named to All-America teams Wednesday afternoon.
Allen earned second-team honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and third-team accolades by Perfect Game as a relief pitcher. Clark also was acknowledged as a relief pitcher for the Golden Eagles with a third-team nod from the NCBWA.
Allen, who finished his four-year career in fifth place with 92 career appearances, posted a 7-2 record with a 3.05 ERA and a pair of saves. He earned All-Sun Belt second-team honors and was a member of the league's All-Tournament team. This was the second-straight season Allen earned a sport from the NCBWA, collecting third-team honors last season.
Clark, who was a first-team All-Sun Belt selection as a relief pitcher and a member of the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, posted an 8-0 record with a team-high five saves. He fanned 81 and walked 12 over 55 1/3 innings, while posting a 2.93 ERA. He appeared in 23 games with seven starting assignments.
It marked the ninth consecutive season - there was not team voted on in 2020 - that at least one Golden Eagle was recognized by the NCBWA and second-straight year they have had multiple selections.
The selection of Allen by Perfect Game marked the 11th time a Golden Eagle player was recognized by that media organization since 2017.
