HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Southern Miss baseball team travels to Virginia for the second time this season, with the program's first-ever trip to James Madison, to play its final Sun Belt Conference road series of the season. The series begins Friday with a 5 p.m. CT contest at Veterans Memorial Park.

All three games are available for streaming through ESPN+ and can also be heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network as well as through SouthernMiss.com. The Saturday and Sunday contests have been moved up with the Saturday game starting at 3 p.m. CT and the Sunday affair beginning at 11 a.m. CT.

The Golden Eagles, which first played in the state of Virginia in 1989, are 20-14 all-time in games played there, having faced Old Dominion (7-2), VCU (3-3) and Virginia Tech (6-6). The Golden Eagles also played in two Metro Conference tournaments there, including in Salem in 1991 (3-1) and in Richmond in 1993 (1-2).

Southern Miss (34-14 overall, 18-6 Sun Belt), ranked as high as No. 12 in the national polls, sit in second place in the league standings and trail leader Coastal Carolina in the standings by three games. Heading into the weekend, the Golden Eagles sport a three-game winning streak having swept ULM at home to open the month of May.

Under coach Christian Ostrander, the Golden Eagles are 21-1 in the regular season during May and have won the last 14 regular season games during this final month of the slate. Overall, the Golden Eagles are 29-4 in May under Ostrander and included two trips to the Sun Belt Conference tournament finals and the NCAA Regional finals twice.

Left fielder Davis Gillespie leads the Golden Eagles in batting average through the first 48 games, hitting .326 with 12 homers and 39 RBI, while Seth Smith ranks second at .313 with two homers and 22 RBI. Kyle Morrison, who leads the team in homers (14) and RBI (40), ranks third in hitting at .313.

Both Joey Urban and Matthew Russo are next in the batting average column as they hit .296 and .293, respectively.

For the second-straight weekend, the Golden Eagles will utilize the pitching rotation of left-hander Grayden Harris (7-1, 3.00 ERA) to open the series, with right-handers Camden Clark (6-0, 2.83 ERA) and Camden Sunstrom (4-3, 2.32 ERA) set to finish out the series in that order.

Following the JMU series, the Golden Eagles return home for senior weekend, starting at 7 p.m., Thursday, against Georgia Southern.
