Pitcher Grayden Harris Named Ferriss Trophy Finalist

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss sophomore left-handed pitcher Grayden Harris (Central, La.) was named a finalist Tuesday for the 2026 Ferriss Trophy, which is presented annually to the top collegiate baseball player in the state of Mississippi.
This season, Harris has posted a 7-1 record with a 3.31 ERA in 13 starts, having fanned 85 and walked just 18 in 73 1/3 innings. In 13 starts this season, he has thrown at least five innings in 11 of them and six or more innings seven times.
The Golden Eagle starting pitcher was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, as well as the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week and a member of the Baseball America Team of the Week, following a 13-strikeout performance in a 6-1 victory over North Alabama on March 7.
Harris looks to become the sixth Golden Eagle to win this award. The previous Southern Miss winners include outfielder Tyler Koelling (2011), along with pitchers James McMahon (2015), Nick Sandlin (2018), Tanner Hall (2022) and JB Middleton (2025).
The award will be presented at a luncheon, Monday, May 18, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson. For information on tickets to the event, visit msfame.com.
