Nichols Earns Win on First Day of Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA – Tyler Nichols led Southern Miss with a first-place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 8.10 meters to highlight day one at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
On the women's side, Emme Bates secured a victory in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:18.30. Cadence Lapp added a top-five finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing fourth with a time of 10:45.46.
Following Nichols in the long jump, DeAundre Ward followed closely with a runner-up finish at 7.94 meters. Markeith Thompson added a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.17, and Michael Kasmervisz recorded a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 16.44 meters.
