Golden Eagles Save Best Round for Final Day of Magnolia Collegiate

MOBILE, Ala. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Magnolia Collegiate, as the Golden Eagles fired their best round of the two-day event on Tuesday. Southern Miss shot 11-over par at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Crossings Course to cap the event.
Fernanda Gorostiaga delivered the low round of the day for Southern Miss, finishing at one-over par. Gorostiaga recorded a pair of birdies en route to the best finish of her career. Her previous best was a ninth-place showing at the Tchefuncta Invitational two years ago.
Taylor Trible and Louise Cuyvers finished tied for 14th, with Cuyvers posting a two-over 74 on Tuesday. Trible drained four birdies and shot a three-over 75 in her final round.
Liv Romer finished tied for 27th after shooting a five-over 77. Alma Betoret and Morgan Guepet both posted a six-over 78, while Savannah Van Gaalen shot a nine-over 81. Trible recorded eight birdies over the three rounds, the third-most of any player in the field. As a team, Southern Miss had the second-best scoring average on par 4s at 4.26, while Stetson led the field at 4.20.

Southern Miss heads to the ULM Invitational to wrap up the regular season on March 30-31. The event will be held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. The Golden Eagles are the reigning champions after leading all three rounds last season.
