Southern Miss heads to Conway looking to continue a strong stretch away from Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles are 3-2 on the road this season and won their first Sun Belt road match with a 1-0 shutout at Arkansas State. Coach Danny Owens' group has won four of its last six overall and enters Thursday averaging 14.3 shots per match while holding a 157-146 advantage in total attempts and a 53-44 edge in corner kicks through 11 contests.
Ava Bynes continues to lead the Southern Miss attack with four goals, two assists and 10 points. Lorilee Taylor has two goals and two assists while producing 18 shots, and Olivia Tribolet has added two goals and an assist on 17 attempts. Nine different Golden Eagles have found the net this season, helping Southern Miss produce 20 goals through its opening 11 matches.
Coastal Carolina returns home after a difficult opening stretch of Sun Belt play, but its record at Coastal Carolina Soccer Stadium tells another story. The Chanticleers are unbeaten at home this season at 5-0-1 and have recorded six shutouts overall. Goalkeeper Aris Lamanna carries a 1.16 goals-against average and a .773 save percentage through 13 appearances.
Olivia Goretski leads Coastal with five goals and 11 points while accounting for a team-high 42 shots. Olivia Lawrence follows with three goals, while Breckynn Pugh has scored twice. The Chanticleers have scored 18 goals this season, with 14 coming before halftime. Coastal enters Thursday looking for its first conference victory after dropping a 1-0 decision at Troy despite finishing with a 21-10 advantage in shots.
Thursday marks just the third meeting between the programs and Southern Miss' first trip to Conway since 2022. Coastal Carolina holds a 1-0-1 edge in the series, winning the inaugural meeting 4-1 before the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Hattiesburg in 2024. The Golden Eagles will be looking for their first victory in the series.
