Reigning Sun Belt Champs Open Season in New Mexico

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss women's golf opens its 2025-26 campaign on Monday morning at the Branch Law Firm/McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The two-day event is being played at the New Mexico Championship Court.

Coming off a historic season, second-year head coach Colton Cowan has a new-look lineup to open the season. Only two golfers from the reigning Sun Belt Championship squad are in the lineup this weekend, as Taylor Trible is slotted in the top spot and Louise Cuyvers has been tabbed as the anchor. Newcomers Liv Romer, Morgan Guepet and Savannah Van Gaalen will make their Golden Eagle debuts this week.

The full field includes New Mexico, BYU, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Mercer, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Sacramento State, South Alabama, Southern Miss, UNLV, UTEP and Washington State. The field will be playing on a course that sits as a par-72, 6,354-yard track.

As a team, Southern Miss took home the first conference title in program history last season, while also earning an auto-berth to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. In Cowan's first season at the helm, the Golden Eagles claimed three tournament titles and seven top-five finishes.
