HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis capped a three-day Southern Miss Fall Invitational with a commanding 21–3 weekend on home courts. Against South Alabama, Louisiana and Jackson State, the Golden Eagles controlled doubles, anchored by the unbeaten duo Saheb Sodhi/Eric Perkowski, and carried that edge into singles behind Sodhi's steady top-line play. Clean service holds, early breaks, and poised tiebreaks kept momentum in hand each session.
Day 1 offered the blueprint the Eagles would follow all weekend: quick starts in doubles to seize early control, followed by disciplined baseline play in singles. Return games created immediate scoreboard pressure, and the Eagles' first-serve percentage kept them out of extended defensive patterns. The depth pieces answered, too. Multiple courts handled back-end stages with mature shot selection, turning tight deuce points into separation late in sets.
The centerpiece arrived on Day 2, where Southern Miss posted a wire to wire 8–0 sweep (4–0 doubles, 4–0 singles). Sodhi/Perkowski stayed flawless at the net, punctuating their day with clean poaches and first-ball finishes. In singles, Sodhi capped his perfect two-match slate, while Olle and Ritabrata each delivered wins, mixing first-strike forehands with percentage patterns that traveled under pressure. That collective effort put the invitational firmly in hand heading into the closing session.
Day 3 mirrored the weekend's theme: sound doubles, disciplined singles, and steady closing. The Eagles' pairs again generated early break chances with aggressive returns, and the singles group protected leads with high-percentage service games. As has been the case in the early fall, Southern Miss managed momentum swings well, resetting after long rallies, saving break points with first serves, and converting down the line finishing balls when windows opened.
Across the three day slate, the numbers matched the eye test: 21–3 overall with an undefeated doubles day on Saturday and multiple perfect individual ledgers. Sodhi finished the invitational unbeaten in both doubles and singles, Perkowski remained spotless in doubles, and Olle and Ritabrata did not drop a singles decision. With the invitational's field drawn from familiar regional opponents, South Alabama, Louisiana, Jackson State, the Eagles' consistency on home courts offered a useful benchmark for the weeks ahead.
Southern Miss exits the weekend with tangible carryover: doubles pairings that travel, a singles core comfortable in breakers, and a group identity built on first-serve percentage, body-serve patterns, and disciplined depth. With early-fall momentum in place and multiple players trending up, the Golden Eagles set a clear tone for the remainder of the campaign.
