HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis returns home to host the Southern Miss Fall Invitational, set for Sept. 26-28 at the Southern Miss Tennis Courts. The Golden Eagles welcome South Alabama, Louisiana, and Jackson State to Hattiesburg for a three-day slate of doubles and singles action.
The Golden Eagles bring momentum into the event following strong performances at the Youngsville Hidden Duals. Doubles duo Saheb Sodhi and Eric Perkowski went undefeated across the weekend, earning statement wins against Louisiana, Tulane, and Tyler JC. Their chemistry will again be on display as they lead Southern Miss into the Invitational.
Sophomore transfer Jose Murariu also enters with confidence after a summer and early fall spent battling high-level international competition. Murariu earned a gritty win over Nebraska standout Jerri Lassila at the UTR PTT Tournament and competed against ATP-ranked professionals, further proving his ability to raise his level on big stages. His progress, along with the growth of Kale Mize and a deep roster featuring Robin Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Rasmus Becker, and Jay Temming, has head coach Zubin Engineer optimistic about the season's trajectory.
Southern Miss has plenty of story lines to follow this weekend. Sodhi and Perkowski look to extend their doubles winning streak against strong regional pairs. Murariu continues to build momentum after testing himself against ATP talent and will be a key figure in singles play. Mize, who battled through injury earlier this year, is eager to showcase his form in front of the home crowd. Depth will also be tested, with Noltorp, Sarkar, Becker, and Temming all poised to make an impact across the draw. Together, the Golden Eagles aim to set the tone for the rest of the fall campaign with a strong showing in Hattiesburg.
