
Golden Eagles Set to Compete in the JT Poston Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Golden Eagles make their way to Waynesville, N.C. to participate in the JT Poston Invitational hosted by Western Carolina University riding off a top three finish at the Argent Financial Classic.
The tournament will last three days and will consist of 54 holes, beginning on Sunday, Sept. 14 and ending on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The course is a par-70 and 6,720 yards with 15 participating teams competing in the event. The course first established in 1926 is known for its various vintage guest cottages, event spaces, and dining options which tie together to deliver a unique vintage and modern charm.
The teams competing in the event are Western Carolina, Southern Miss, Jacksonville, Abilene Christian, James Madison, UT-Rio Grande Valley, Drexel, Kennesaw State, Virginia Tech, Elon, Lipscomb, Wofford, Francis Marion, Morehead State, Xavier.
The Golden Eagles take Freshman Jake Moffitt who in his collegiate debut shot 10-under 206 to place him in a two-way tie for second. Playing alongside him, this weekend is Sophomore Matthew Javier, Junior Benjamin Fernandez, Junior Supakorn Amornchaichan, and Senior Will Burnham who propelled Southern Miss to a top three finish in the first event of the season in Choudrant, La. Capping off the travel roster is Freshman Grayson Davis who will make his collegiate debut in the individual category.
Amornchaichan is the first to tee off for the Golden Eagles on hole 10 at 9:45 a.m. with Burnham following close behind set to start at 9:54 a.m. on the same hole. The rest of the Golden Eagles tee off after 10 a.m. with Davis bringing up the rear teeing off at 10:48 a.m.
