Golden Eagles Look to Soar in Birmingham Showdown

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's soccer (0–4–0, 0–0–0 SBC) continues its non-conference stretch this Sunday, August 31, as the Golden Eagles travel to Birmingham to face UAB (1–2–1, 0–0–0 American) at PNC Field. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT, and fans can watch live on ESPN+.

The Golden Eagles enter the contest looking to build off a resilient showing in their last outing against Ole Miss. Southern Miss generated multiple chances in the second half, with Zayla Reagan, Lorilee Taylor, and Rhyleigh Marks each testing the Rebel defense, while goalkeepers Maddie Ellis and Lena Blake combined for eight saves to keep the game within reach.
UAB comes in with momentum after a commanding 5–0 win over ULM. The Blazers have shown attacking strength early in the season, netting eight goals through their first four matches.
Sunday will mark the 21st all-time meeting between the two programs. UAB leads the series 10–7–3, including a 1–0 win in the most recent matchup on Sept. 8, 2024, in Hattiesburg. Southern Miss last defeated UAB in the 2021 C-USA Tournament, earning a 2–1 victory in overtime.
