
Scott Berry One of Three Golden Eagle Inductees into Miss. Sports HOF Next Weekend

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Retired Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry, along with former Golden Eagles Derrick Nix, a football standout, and Robbie Webb, who played golf for the University, will be part of the 2025 Class inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Saturday, Aug. 2.
Berry, who started first at Meridian Community College, spent 23 years with the Golden Eagles baseball program where he finished as the all-time winningest coach with 528 victories and 10 league championships. He led the Golden Eagles to nine NCAA Tournaments and two NCAA Super Regionals, while winning four conference Coach of the Year honors.
Nix, a former Golden Eagle running back who rushed for 3,584 yards over four seasons, despite playing much of his career with a life-threatening kidney disease. He also coached collegiately at Southern Miss and Ole Miss and is currently the offensive coordinator at Auburn.
Webb, golfer and golf teacher, will be inducted posthumously. After an outstanding college career at Southern Miss, Webb became the longtime pro at Canton and Deerfield country clubs. Webb taught and coached many future college golfers and amateur and professional champions.
The induction takes place starting at 5:30 p.m. with a ticketed reception, following by a 7 p.m. dinner and program recognizing the 2025 class at the Clyde Muse Center (515 Country Place Parkway) in Pearl. To purchase tickets for this event, please click here.
