HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss pitcher Matt Adams (Pearland, Texas), outfielder Carson Paetow (Vancleave, Miss.), catcher Tucker Stockman (Athens, Ala.) and designated hitter Joey Urban (Jupiter, Fla.) each earned 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Adams, a 3.98 student currently working towards a master's in business administration, finished the season with a 6-4 record and a 4.31 earned run average over 18 appearances which included 17 starting assignments. In 2025, Adams earned a Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honor and awarded the Sun Belt Conference's ELITE Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA on the final day of the league's championship. In his career, Adams earned two Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honors. He was a member of the President's List every semester as an undergraduate, while being named to the Conference USA Academic Medal three times. In addition, he won the 2024 Male Athlete of the Year Award winner at the TALON Awards, given out by the school's athletic department.
Paetow, who has tallied a 3.73 grade point average while also working towards a master's in business administration, finished his career ranked at the school in the top 10 in games played with 240 (tied for fifth), doubles with 56 (tied for seventh), home runs with 47 (fifth), RBI with 194 (fifth), total bases with 443 (seventh) and walks with 138 (third). This season, Paetow collected first team All-Sun Belt honors and was awarded the Tony Robichaux Sun Belt Leadership Award meant for a student-athlete who exemplifies the values and beliefs of the late Louisiana Coach Robichaux that he instilled on his players and the community. Academically, he was named to the Dean's List four times and Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times and garnered one C-USA Commissioner's Medal and one C-USA Academic Honor Roll.
Stockman, a 3.80 student in physics, earned NCAA Hattiesburg all-regional team honors this spring and finished his year starting 52 games behind the plate for the Golden Eagles. He hit .332 with 41 runs, nine doubles, six home runs and 33 RBI. His biggest hit of the season came in the form of a two-run single against Alabama in the regional that proved to be the game winner. Stockman finished third on the team in hitting.
Urban, a business administration major with a 3.80 GPA, also earned NCAA Hattiesburg regional all-tournament honors, finishing his first season at Southern Miss with a .333 batting average with nine doubles, a triple, nine home runs and 27 RBI. During the year, he hit a go-ahead home run at Troy which proved to be the difference in the contest and belted two long balls against Miami in a 17-6 victory that sent the Golden Eagles to the final game of the regional.
The quartet helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 47-16 record and the school's current Division I best ninth 40-win season.
