
Historic Women's Golf Campaign Comes to an End

NORMAN, Okla. --Â Southern Miss had its historic women's golf season come to an end on Wednesday morning at the NCAA Norman Regional. Momoka Ando and Louise Cuyvers both snagged top 30 finishes at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.Â
The top five teams from the regional advanced to the NCAA Division I Golf Championships in Carlsbad, Calif. Stanford. the top seed and reigning National Champions, ran away from the field after shooting 23-under par. Northwestern, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Baylor followed in advancing to the National Championships. The Golden Eagles finished in 12th and posted their best score during the opening round.Â
Southern Miss was eight strokes from the qualifying cut line after shooting a 10-over 298 in the first round. The Golden Eagles then posted a 301 and 308 in the second and third rounds, respectively. Ando was the top induvial finisher for Southern Miss after finishing tied for 26th. The senior ended her Golden Eagle career with a two-over 74 in the final round. Cuyvers wrapped up her freshman campaign with a five-over 77 to finish in 29th.Â
Ragini Navet and Taylor Trible both finished in a tie for 62nd. Navet fired a six-over 78 in the final round, while Trible shot a 10-over 82. Senior Elena Melich posted a seven-over 79 in the third round and finished in 64th.Â
The 2024-25 season was highlighted by three tournament wins, including the first Sun Belt Championship win in program history - it was also the first conference championship in the program's history. The Golden Eagles also won The Judson and ULM Invitational, while finishing in the top four in three other events. Ando nabbed the first individual conference championship in program history after winning the Sun Belt Individual Championship.Â
