Southern Miss Outdoor Track and Field Qualifies for 11 NCAA Regional Events

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss outdoor track and field team qualified for 11 different events -- six men and five women -- for the NCAA East Regional set to run May 28-31. The national qualifying event will be at North Florida's Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.

"Qualifying for 11 events is a remarkable accomplishment, and I couldn't be prouder of this group for doing so," said head track and field coach Jon Stuart. "The 14 student-athletes traveling to Jacksonville have shown tremendous discipline and effort all season long."

Taliyah Lindsay and Valencia Watson both qualified for the 200-meter and 4x100-meter races, while Kennedi Sanders will run in the 400-meter and 4x100-meter races. Tacherria Lawson is the final leg of the 4x100 team for the Golden Eagles in Jacksonville.

In the field events, both Jelese Alexander and Alana Simon will compete in the high jump, while Joidon Boddie will compete in the triple jump.

On the men's side, Kelsey Singleton qualified for the 400-meter race and Javel Fullerton is set for the 400-meter hurdles. Zayne Palomino and Tyler Nichols will both compete in the high jump event, while De'Aundre Ward is set for the long jump event. In the throwing events, Piers Cameron will compete in the shot put and Conner Mozee in the discus throw.
