Baseball Opens Sun Belt Conference Tournament Wednesday Afternoon

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss, back-to-back Sun Belt Tournament champions, return to Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., to defend their title starting Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. against either Texas State, Arkansas State or Georgia Southern.

The Golden Eagles (41-13) will play No. 7 seed Texas State, who defeated App State 3-0 Tuesday afternoon. Every game of the tournament can be viewed via ESPN+ and all of the Southern Miss baseball games can be heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.

Southern Miss enters the tournament with a school-record tying 15-game winning streak, having swept its four final league series against App State, Arkansas State, Louisiana and Troy.

During the current 15-game win streak, Southern Miss has put together a team batting average of .343 with 34 doubles, three triples and 29 home runs, while knocking in 133 runs. The pitching staff has put together a 3.25 ERA with 128 strikeouts and only 37 walks over 130 innings.

While this is the third season for Southern Miss in the Sun Belt Championship, the Golden Eagles have posted an 89-68 record (.567) combined over 41 conference tournament appearances. Southern Miss has not missed a league tournament since joining the Metro Conference in 1983. Here is a look at the Golden Eagles and their conference tournament appearances:
