
Women's Tennis Drops Sunday Match Against Louisiana

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Southern Miss women's tennis (4-11, 0-8 Sun Belt) battled through tightly contested singles and doubles matches against Louisiana (9-6, 2-4 Sun Belt) Sunday at home, but fell 4-1 to the Ragin' Cajuns.
In doubles play, Southern Miss secured a win at the No. 2 position as Malannia Vashkevich and Talia Wunnenberg edged past Nina Krecklenberg and Rocio Navarro for a 7-5 victory. However, Angelique Berrat and Ana Martinez Vaquero defeated Hannah Chambers and Jordan Parker on court one and Jenalia Prulla and Ivana Castillo took down Sakura Sudo and Miranda Xu in a thrilling tiebreaker for the 7-6 win on court three.
The Ragin' Cajuns increased their lead with back-to-back wins at the No. 1 and 5 positions before Vashkevich responded with a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 victory on court two.
However, Karolina Skoworonska sealed the victory for Louisiana with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Gagana Mohan Kumar at the No. 6 position.
