Southern Miss Falls to Georgia State in Tight Contest

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis secured a singles victory but fell short against Georgia State in a 4-1 defeat on Saturday at the Southern Miss Tennis Courts.
The Golden Eagles put up a strong effort but were unable to overcome the Panthers in a competitive non-conference matchup.
Georgia State took an early lead by winning the doubles point with victories at line 1 and line3 doubles. Niklas Jensen and Pasawee Reansuwong fell 6-2 on court one, while Rasmus Becker and Olle Noltorp dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished with the Panthers leading 4-3.
In singles play, Southern Miss' Ritabrata Sarkar provided the highlight of the day, earning a dominant 6-0, 6-4 win at line 6. However, Georgia State clinched the match with straight-set wins at line 2, 4 and 5 singles.
Olle Noltorp and Rasmus Becker each battled in unfinished matches that were left undecided.
Southern Miss will host DePaul on March 25 at 2 p.m.
