Men’s Tennis falls to DePaul in Nonconference Match

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's tennis team fell 6-1 to DePaul in a nonconference match Saturday at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex. The Golden Eagles (2-12) fought hard but could not overcome the Blue Demons (12-8).
DePaul secured the doubles point with wins at line 1 and 2. Thomas Giles and Jona Gitschel edged Niklas Jensen and Saheb Sodhi 6-4 at the top spot, while Matteo Iaquinto and Marko Milosavljevic clinched the point with another 6-4 win over Ritabrata Sarkar and Ricards Spaks. Southern Miss earned a doubles victory at line 3, as Olle Noltorp and Pasawee Reansuwong defeated Tobias Leitner and Quang Vinh Nguyen 6-1.
In singles play, Noltorp secured the Golden Eagles' lone point with a come-from-behind victory over Iaquinto at line 1, rallying for a 4-6, 7-6, 10-4 win. However, DePaul controlled the remaining matches, winning in straight sets at lines 2 through 6.
Southern Miss resumes Sun Belt Conference play Saturday, March 29, when it travels to Conway, South Carolina, to face Coastal Carolina at 9 a.m.
