Beach Volleyball Closes Sugar Beach Bash with Win Over Spring Hill

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – Southern Miss (8-12, 2-2 Sun Belt) played Spring Hill to a 4-1 final score to pick up their third victory of the Sugar Beach Bash Saturday morning. Southern Miss' top two flights finished the weekend 4-0 and led the Golden Eagles to the win over the Sandy Badgers.

The Golden Eagles picked up where they left off the last time they played the Sandy Badgers. Madison Cassidy (Baton Rouge, La.) and Zuzanna Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) moved to 10-10 on the year as Southern Miss' top flight.

Laurel Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) and Sadie McAda (Pleasanton, Texas) moved to 13-7 on the campaign, all at the second pair, with a 2-1 win over the Sandy Badgers. Y-Nhu Do (Cary, N.C.) and Dylan Russell (Oklahoma City, Okla.) grabbed their first win of the weekend and their sixth of the year with a two-set sweep at the threes.

Wiio Meinheit (Wilmington, N.C.) and Giovanna Bahia Gurgel (Recife, Brazil) are now 2-0 after a 2-0 win at fives. Their victory clinched the contest for Southern Miss, giving the Golden Eagles their eighth victory of the season. It marks the second-fastest time Southern Miss has reached eight wins on a season, trailing only the 2022 season's Golden Eagles that started 8-5.

Southern Miss takes a much-needed break next week and will not travel for the first time in a month before heading to Foley, Ala., for two days of action at the Sun Belt Conference Mid-Season Tournament.

The Golden Eagles begin play at the Foley Sports Tourism and Sand Volleyball Complex on Friday, March 28, at 9:15 a.m. While at the tourney, Southern Miss will play four Sun Belt foes beginning with UNCW, No. 20 Georgia State, Coastal Carolina and ULM.
