Southern Miss Track and Field Earns Multiple Podium Finishes at UAB Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southern Miss men's and women's indoor track and field teams delivered strong performances at the UAB Invitational on Saturday, securing a combined 10 top-three finishes in Birmingham.

The Golden Eagle women earned six podium finishes, highlighted by Trinity Flagler's double-win in the 60 meters (7.50) and 200 meters (23.92). Taliyah Lindsay finished third in both events, posting a 7.54 in the 60 meters and a 23.98 in the 200 meters. Sierra Edwards claimed the 60-meter hurdles title in 8.64 seconds, while Alana Simon cleared 1.68 meters to win the high jump. Za'Isha Fraser placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.23 meters.

The men's team recorded four top-three finishes. Kingsley Unorji clocked 6.70 seconds in the 60 meters to take second, while Tyler Nichols cleared 2.06 meters for second in the high jump. Piers Cameron earned runner-up honors in the shot put with a throw of 17.92 meters, and Kevin Chiku finished second in the 600 meters (1:20.35).

Southern Miss returns to action Friday, February 14, at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
