Track and Field Travels to Nashville for Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Southern Miss track and field team heads to Nashville to compete in the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
Last time out, the Golden Eagles' men's and women's indoor teams combined for 10 top-three finishes at the UAB Invitational in Birmingham.
The Southern Miss women earned six podium finishes, highlighted by Trinity Flagler's wins in the 60 meters (7.50) and 200 meters (23.92). Sierra Edwards claimed the 60-meter hurdles title in 8.64 seconds, while Alana Simon cleared 1.68 meters to win the high jump.
The men's team recorded four top-three finishes. Kingsley Unorji clocked 6.70 seconds in the 60 meters to place second, while Tyler Nichols cleared 2.06 meters for runner-up honors in the high jump. Piers Cameron finished second in the shot put with a throw of 17.92 meters, and Kevin Chiku placed second in the 600 meters (1:20.35).
Teams competing in the meet include Alabama, Arkansas State, Cincinnati, Colorado, FIU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, LeMoyne-Owen, Lipscomb, Louisiana, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi College, Mississippi State, Murray State, New Orleans, North Dakota State, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Troy, UAB, UCF, UTSA, Xavier and Vanderbilt.
