Men’s Tennis Falls Short to Samford

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's tennis team (0-4) fell to Samford (3-2) in its home match Saturday in Hattiesburg. Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles kept matches tight and made the Bulldogs work for their wins.
In singles play, Niklas Jensen battled to a third-set tiebreak at Line 1 before the match was ruled unfinished. Ritabrata Sarkar fought through a three-set thriller at Line 4, taking the opening set 6-3 before narrowly falling in a 10-8 super tiebreaker.
In doubles, Southern Miss showed its competitive fire, with the Line 3 pairing of Charlie Brady and Sarkar locked in a tight match before play was called.
Southern Miss faces New Orleans on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m.
