HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's soccer head coach Danny Owens has announced the addition of Ryan Weir as associate head coach for the Golden Eagles.
Weir arrives in Hattiesburg after 11 seasons on the women's soccer staff at William Carey University, joining the program in 2014 and helping guide the Crusaders to a 213-26-9 overall record over that span. During his tenure, William Carey produced one of the most consistent runs in the NAIA, highlighted by the program's first NAIA National Championship in 2018 and multiple appearances deep into the national tournament.
Across his time with the Crusaders, Weir helped lead teams that claimed SSAC championships and regular season titles, earned national runner-up finishes, and made repeated trips to the NAIA National Championship final site. William Carey also maintained a steady presence near the top of the NAIA Coaches Poll throughout Weir's tenure, including historic firsts for the program with top national rankings.
Weir has also played a significant role in the development of high-level student-athletes, mentoring numerous All-Americans and major award winners. During his time on staff, the Crusaders produced multiple SSAC Players of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, and NAIA National Players of the Year.
A native of Torquay, England, Weir played collegiately at William Carey from 2008-11, making 55 appearances. He was part of the 2011 team that advanced to the NAIA National Championship Final Four, making 14 starts and scoring seven goals that season.
Weir earned his bachelor's degree in history from William Carey in 2012 and later completed a master's degree in interscholastic athletic administration in 2015. He joins the Golden Eagles after helping build one of the NAIA's premier programs and will work alongside the Southern Miss staff as the program continues its push forward on and off the field.
