The Golden Eagles return home for their second home game of the season after concluding a two-game road swing against Southeastern Conference opponents Auburn and Alabama.
Southern Miss lost 4-0 last Sunday against Alabama after the Crimson Tide powered ahead with three goals in the first period.Â
Four Alabama players scored in the match, all assisted by different teammates. The Crimson Tide maximized their opportunities in the first period, converting seven shots into three early goals.
Senior goalkeeper Kesaia Bruni faced a season-high 14 shots in the second half, recording another season-high of four saves in the match. The Ontario, Canada native leads the team with 11 saves and a .786 save percentage through three matches.
Four Golden Eagles recorded two shots in the match-Lorilee Taylor, Raquelle Mitchell, Chloe Taylor and Williamson.
Now, Southern Miss will clash against its third consecutive team against an Alabama program with its first match versus UAB since 2021.
UAB is following a 1-0 win at home versus Ole Miss, its first win against the Rebels since 2011. Abbey Burns scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 57th minute, while the Blazers' defense held Ole Miss to just seven shots throughout the game.Â
The Golden Eagles have enjoyed a home advantage at the Marshall Bell Complex, where they finished 5-2-2 last season and hold a 20-13-6 record at home over the last five seasons.

- Freshman Raquelle Mitchell leads the Golden Eagles with two goals after she scored a brace in her collegiate debut against MVSU on Aug. 15. Mitchell's brace marked the first time a Golden Eagles had scored twice in their debut since senior transfer Obafemi Alao scored two goals against South Alabama on Aug. 26, 2008. Alice Williamson, Adaira Nakano and Shaelynn Quick each have a goal apiece from their contributions in Southern Miss' 5-0 victory against MVSU.
- Nine Golden Eagles have started all three matches this season: Nakano, Quick, Maddie Ellis, Mallory Tapper, Lorilee Taylor, Chloe Taylor, Neza Cebasek, Ishpreen Marwah and Natalie Wilson. Junior defender Taylor Stewart made her first appearance this season, debuting in the starting lineup against Alabama with 55 minutes of action.
- Chloe Taylor started her 20th career match last Sunday at Alabama. The Liverpool, England native has started every match she has played in her career at Southern Miss.

- UAB is led by first-year head coach Lisa Mann. Mann comes to UAB after spending the last four seasons as the head coach at West Virginia State University, where she led the Yellow Jackets to a 40-15-4 record, a Mountain East Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
- UAB was picked to finish ninth in the AAC. The Blazers finished eighth in the conference last season with a 2-3-4 standing in conference play.
- Abbey Burns, Kendall Page and Anika Toth were named to the AAC Women's Soccer Preseason Watch List. Burns leads the team with four goals through five games. Toth has started all five games for the Blazers, posting two shutouts along with a .708 save percentage.
