The Golden Eagles have spent the last two weeks on the road testing themselves against SEC competition and non-conference opponents. A dominant 4-0 opening win at Alabama State was followed by tough losses at McNeese and Mississippi State. Now comes the reset. The next three matches at home provide the perfect opportunity for Coach Owens to show Hattiesburg what his program is building, with fan support and familiar surroundings working in the Golden Eagles' favor as they look to string together victories heading into conference play.
Southeastern Louisiana arrives in Hattiesburg riding a three match winning streak. After opening with a 4-1 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette, the Lions bounced back with a 5-1 road victory over Louisiana Tech before securing a 1-0 win at home against Troy. Coach Nathan Gillespie's team has found its rhythm, and the Lions bring experience with 18 returning letter winners alongside nine newcomers. This is a program that knows how to compete.
Thursday marks the beginning of the promotional calendar at home. Seymour will be on hand, and fans will receive giveaways of 2026 poster schedules and bracelets. Admission is free, making it an ideal time for the Hattiesburg community to come out and support the home opener.
For Coach Owens, this is the moment to establish home as an advantage. The three-game stretch at the Marshall Bell Track & Field/Soccer Complex is a chance to build confidence and momentum before the intensity of Sun Belt Conference play.
