Southern Miss continues its two-game road swing, last playing at Auburn Aug. 22 in a 6-0 defeat.Â
Auburn outshot Southern Miss 21-1, with the Tigers firing 11 shots on goal in the match. A week after recording the fourth-most shots in a single game in program history in the season opener versus Mississippi Valley State, Auburn held Southern Miss to its fewest shot attempts in a game since registering only one shot against Ole Miss on Sept. 11, 2022.
After a ten-day break, the Golden Eagles will resume play against the Crimson Tide, the second of three consecutive games played against teams from Alabama.
Alabama is also the second of three SEC teams the Golden Eagles will face this season. Southern Miss will conclude its nonconference slate with a final match at Ole Miss on Sept. 12.
After starting the season with a 3-0 defeat to TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, the Crimson Tide have fired off on a four-game winning streak ahead of its matchup against the Golden Eagles.Â
Alabama has outscored opponents 17-4 during its win streak, including an 8-2 victory Thursday at home against Florida Atlantic.

- Alabama is led by tenth-year head coach Wes Hart, who has led the Crimson Tide to four NCAA Tournament Appearances with a 101-70-20 overall record at the program.
- The Crimson Tide finished the 2023 campaign with a 12-5-5 record, ranking fourth in the SEC with a 5-4-1 conference standing. Alabama was picked to finish fifth in the 2024 SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Alabama ranks third in the SEC with 17 goals scored, with junior Gianna Paul leading the Crimson Tide in goals scored (5) and total points (11). Paul has scored two consecutive braces this week with two goals scored at Chattanooga and two versus FAU. Paul, a 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team selection, was named to the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List in the preseason.
- Nedya Sawan leads Alabama with four assists, ranking seventh in the conference.
- The Crimson Tide's 22 points off of eight goals and six assists versus FAU were the tenth most points in a single game in program history.
