
Southern Miss Has Four Named to CSC Academic All-District Baseball Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Slade Wilks, along with Dalton McIntyre, Billy Oldham and Carson Paetow, were named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Wilks paced the Golden Eagle offense with a .336 batting average to go along with a team-high tying 20 doubles, a triple, as well as 14 home runs and 69 RBI, both team bests. He finished his career with a 36-game hitting streak, which ranks No. 2 in the school's history. Wilks also has collected a 3.571 grade point average in business administration. Wilks also earned all-district honors last season.
McIntyre, who finished with a team-high .388 batting average with 12 doubles, a triple and two home runs with 34 RBI was chosen based on his 3.710 grade point average in psychology.
OIdham, who just finished his second year with the program as a starting pitcher, collected a 7-3 record with a 4.48 ERA. He fanned a team-best 97 and walked just 28 in a team-high of 94 1/3 innings this spring. He also registered a 3.531 GPA in liberal studies.
Our final all-district pick, Paetow, completed his year with a .285 average to go along with 11 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 46 RBI. He played in 56 games with 54 starts for the Golden Eagles. He made the academic all-district team thanks to a 3.640 GPA in Health Care Administration.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 2, 2024.
