Women's Tennis Returns to Hattiesburg for Weekend Matches

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Following four matches on the road, Southern Miss (4-10, 0-6 Sun Belt) women's tennis returns to Hattiesburg this weekend to host App State (11-6, 5-2 Sun Belt) and Marshall (15-6, 6-1 Sun Belt) at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex. Both matches will be played at 10 a.m. and admission is free.
The Golden Eagles have lost their last six matches since beating Alcorn State on March 2, but have seen a pair of players reach the four-win threshold. Angelina Blinova and Suhana Das each have a team-high four wins, while Blinova has secured two of those on the top singles court. Syndey Smyczynski and Malannia Vashkevich both have three wins on the season.
A Look at App State
The Mountaineers head to Hattiesburg as winners in five of their last six matches. App State most recently topped Texas State 4-1 after dropping a 4-3 decision against Louisiana the day prior. It's picked up Sun Belt wins over Georgia State, Troy, ULM, Arkansas State and Texas State. Savannah Dada-Mascoll has a team-best 14-1 record and has picked up all 14 wins on court one. Maggie Pate has 10 wins between courts one, two and three.
A Look at Marshall
Marshall has won its last six matches since dropping the Sun Belt opener to Old Dominion in early March. The Thundering Herd have since grabbed wins over Troy, Georgia State, Arkansas State, ULM, Texas State and Louisiana. Five different players have at least 10 wins, with Doroteja Joksovic and Johanna Strom both having 13.
