Outdoor Track and Field Starts Season at South Alabama Invite Friday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss outdoor track and field squad starts its outdoor season, Friday and Saturday, at the South Alabama Invite on its campus in Mobile.
The schedule starts Friday at 10 a.m., with a light field schedule that includes the men's hammer throw, as well as the women's and men's high jumps. The meet will conclude at 9 a.m., Saturday with both track and field events starting at that time.
"We are excited to get our outdoor season underway," said Southern Miss coach Jon Stuart. "Our athletes have worked hard to get to this point, and we are looking forward to the first step in our spring season."
These individuals return from last year's team which made the NCAA Regional meet, including Omar Austin in 400 meters, Javel Fullerton in the 400-meter hurdles, Zayne Palomino in the high jump, Za'Isha Fraser in the triple jump as well Trinity Benson, Trinity Flager, Jada McDougle an Sav'ia Varnell who all were a part of 4x400 relay squad.
