HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball takes on the Buffalo Bulls for a Saturday, Feb. 10, game as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. Game 23 | Southern Miss (13-9, 6-6 Sun Belt) at Buffalo (13-8, 7-4 MAC)
Saturday, February 10, 2024 | 1:02 p.m. CT
TV: ESPN+ | Paul Peck (PxP) and Matt Mattia (Color)
Radio: Southern Miss Sports Network (92.7 FM) | Jason Baker (PxP)
Alumni Arena (6,100) | Buffalo, N.Y.
LAST TIME OUT
Southern Miss moved to 13-9 on the year and back to even in Sun Belt play with a 6-6 record after a 62-54 win over Georgia Southern. The Lady Eagles are now just five games back from first place and two games back from a double-bye in Pensacola after staring the year off 0-4 in conference play.
Domonique Davis (DeRidder, La.) put up 25 points of her own to lead all scorers and to hold of Georgia Southern's third quarter comeback attempt. Georgia Southern trailed up until the late third quarter before they were able to put together a run and overcome a double-digit Lady Eagle lead.
Southern Miss did just enough to escape the Hanner Fieldhouse with a win – just the team's third road win of the season and second in conference play.
ABOUT BUFFALO
The Bulls' offense flows through Chellia Watson, who averages 24.6 points per game and has taken 443 shots this season already – 259 more than any other Bull. Watson more than paces the Bulls and the entire MAC and has been a crucial piece in Buffalo's recent surge.
Head coach Becky Burke is in her second year after taking over for Felicia Legette-Jack who took the Syracuse job after earning the MAC auto bid in 2021-22.
AFTER THIS
Southern Miss returns home for its final homestand of the 2023-24 season, hosting Arkansas State and Texas State for the first of two games against both. The Red Wolves come to town on Thursday while the Bobcats make their way to Hattiesburg on Saturday.
