Women’s Basketball Drops 2026-27 Non-Conference Slate

HATTIESBURG – Southern Miss women's basketball head coach Missy Bilderback has finalized the program's full non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season.
"We're really excited about the challenges our non-conference schedule will provide," Bilderback said. "We have an opportunity to play great competition, including home games against in-state rivals Jackson State and Mississippi State, as well as road tests at UAB and Auburn.
"Those games will challenge us in different ways and give our team an opportunity to grow, compete, and find out who we are early in the season. We want to play a schedule that prepares us for the rigor of the Sun Belt, and this non-conference slate will certainly do that."
Southern Miss will host East Texas Baptist on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in its lone exhibition game at Reed Green Coliseum.
Bilderback will officially open her second season at the helm of the Lady Eagles against Mississippi Christian on Monday, Nov. 2. The opener will also be the program's annual education day. Southern Miss will take a quick trip to Auburn on Thursday, Nov. 5, to face its first of two SEC opponents on the schedule.
The Golden Eagles head back to Hattiesburg on Monday, Nov. 9, to open a five-game homestand against Mississippi Valley State. The stretch continues against Jackson State (Nov. 12), Jacksonville State (Nov. 16), and McNeese (Nov. 18). Southern Miss will play Mississippi State on Sunday, Nov. 22, to close out the run at Reed Green Coliseum.
The Golden Eagles are then slated to play in the Iona Turkey Tip-Off in Iona, N.Y., from Nov. 27-28. Southern Miss will play Drexel in the opener, before playing either Iona or UMBC in the second game of the tournament. The Golden Eagles will make a quick stop back in Hattiesburg to play West Alabama on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
A stretch of six road stops in an eight-game stretch continues as Southern Miss travels to UAB (Dec. 6) and Fresno State (Dec. 11). Another brief stop at home against South Alabama – which opens Sun Belt play – is the precursor to a two-game swing at Old Dominion (Dec. 19) and VCU (Dec.21).
The Sun Belt Conference schedule gets underway against the Jaguars as listed, and will run through Friday, Feb. 26. The 2027 Sun Belt Tournament will take place in Pensacola, Fla., with the first round beginning on Tuesday, March 2, and the championship game set for Monday, March 8.
