HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball, in the midst of a four-game road swing to end the year, plays its final Saturday game of the regular season against Arkansas State. Tipoff is set for noon from the Red Wolves' First National Bank Arena.

Southern Miss had its Sun Belt Conference win streak snapped at six games with a gut-wrenching 57-52 loss at ULM. The Lady Eagles held a slim lead for the majority of the game but were unable to hold off a Warhawk rally in the fourth quarter.
Melyia Grayson (Hattiesburg, Miss.) and Brikayla Gray (Drew, Miss.) each turned in double-double performances, combining for 25 points and 25 boards. Southern Miss out-rebounded ULM 42-26 and held Monroe to just one offensive rebound on the day.

The Red Wolves enter the weekend 13-13 overall (6-9 Sun Belt) and the losers of their last three games, including a 57-48 loss at Southern Miss last Thursday. Arkansas State is led by third-year head coach Destinee Rogers who assumed the title of interim head coach during the 2021-22 season and as the full-time head coach for the 2022-23 season.
Junior guard Izzy Higginbottom leads the charge for ASU, scoring at pace of 22.2 points per game. Higginbottom is in her second year back in her home state after beginning her career at Missouri. She also leads the group with 3.7 assists per game and an outstanding 91.1 percent rate at the free throw line.
Wynter Rogers, younger sister of head coach Destinee Rogers, leads the group with 6.8 rebounds per game. Lauryn Pendleton leads the squad with 41 steals and Cheyenne Forney is the Red Wolves' lead in blocks with 11.

Arkansas State and Southern Miss have met eight times in their respective program histories with Southern Miss leading 6-2 and riding a four-game win streak. Coach Joye Lee-McNelis is 6-0 all-time against the Red Wolves – 4-0 at Southern Miss and 2-0 at Memphis – and also undefeated against them as a player, winning twice.
Notably, Southern Miss and Arkansas State played the first game of the Inaugural Lady Eagle Classic in 1982 with Southern Miss taking an 81-54 victory at Reed Green Coliseum.
AFTER THIS
Southern Miss stays on the road and heads to San Marcos, Texas, for a Wednesday, Feb. 28, game against Texas State. The Lady Eagles and Bobcats meet for the fifth time overall at 7 p.m. at the Strahan Arena at the University Events Center.
