Southern Miss Dominates in 77-43 Rout of South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama may have scored the first points of the game, but Southern Miss made quick work of the Jaguars. The Lady Eagles exploded for a 25-point first quarter and led by 40 heading into the final quarter. Three Lady Eagles finished with double-figure scoring, led by Jacorriah Bracey's career-high 21.
The Lady Eagles (10-9, 3-6 Sun Belt) wasted no time jumping out on the Jaguars, leading by as many as 28 two minutes into the second quarter. Southern Miss used a 24-point run from the mid first quarter to the second to take a 34-6 lead, ending the first half up 44-19 on the Jaguars.
The second half was more of the same as Southern Miss pushed its lead to 42 early in the fourth quarter. The Lady Eagles led for a total of 39:23 on the afternoon with 11 different Lady Eagles scoring baskets and all 12 playing at least seven minutes.
Southern Miss shot 50.8 percent over the course of the game, helped in large part by a 64.7 percent performance in the first quarter. The Lady Eagles held South to 33.3 percent shooting, though the Jaguars were shooting below 20 percent throughout the first half.
Jacorriah Bracey (Drew, Miss.) led all scorers with 21 points to set a new career high in scoring. Other bests on the day game from Brikayla Gray (Hebron, Miss.), who set a season-best with 16 points – her most since 2021. Mikaylah Manley also had a career-best, netting her first shot of the season for her first points at the collegiate level.
