Indoor Track and Field Finishes Action Saturday in Houston Meet

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Indoor Track and Field squad completed its second and final day of the Houston Meet/Robert Platt Invitational by taking home 10 top eight finishes Saturday in Houston, Texas.

On the women's side, Alana Simon tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters, while the trio of Trinity Benson (24.38), Kenia Seals (24.41) and Trinity Flagler (24.44) finished fourth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 200 meters race.

On the men's side, the Golden Eagles captured a pair of second-place finishes. Those came in the high jump by Zayne Palomin (2.13 meters) and the shot put with Piers Cameron (17.10 meters). In the 800 meters, Kelvin Chiku finished third with a 1:52.00, while De'Aundre Ward added third place in the long jump with a mark of 7.62 meters.

Kingsley Unorji added a fourth place showing with a 6.72 in the 60 meters and Warren Williams ended the 60 meters hurdles with an 8.02.

The Golden Eagles return to action when they travel back to Nashville, Feb. 9-10, for the Music City Invitational.
