
Ivory's Big Night Helps Southern Miss Beat Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – Donovan Ivory dropped 28 points as Southern Miss (12-8, 6-2 Sun Belt) cruised to a 79-63 road win at Coastal Carolina (5-14, 2-5 Sun Belt) on Wednesday night.
Ivory tied his career best in three-pointers made with six – five came in the first half. His 19 first-half points helped the Golden Eagles take a commanding 44-26 lead at the break after the Golden Eagles started the game shooting 53.8 percent from the floor over the first eight minutes.
Coastal Carolina scored the first 14 points of the second half to erase an 18-point deficit and make it a four-point game. Ivory stopped the bleeding with a three-pointer, but the Chanticleers continued to claw back. Their final attempt came on a John Osiaka dunk that made it 53-48 with 10:24 left in the game. With Coastal Carolina within five, Cobie Montgomery drained a triple that started an 8-0 from the Golden Eagles and effectively put the game out of reach.
Jeffery Armstrong drained back-to-back three-pointers after Montgomery's as the redshirt junior scored a career-high 10 points. Armstrong's second trey gave Southern Miss a 13-point advantage with six minutes to play. Montgomery delivered the final dagger with a pair of three-pointers, with the final one making it a 15-point game as the clock ticked below two minutes.
Armstrong reached double figures for the first with on two free throws with a minute to play. Austin Crowley delivered the final point courtesy of a free throw that gave Southern Miss its third-straight win. Crowley finished with a season-best seven assists to go along with seven points.
Mo Arnold finished his night with nine points, seven assists and six rebounds. Tegra Izay came off the bench and added six points and six rebounds. The Golden Eagles made a season-high 13 three-pointers on 29 attempts. They were paced by Ivory's six and Montgomery's three.
Southern Miss will head to Marshall on Thursday as it is slated to meet the Thundering Herd on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off from the Henderson Center is set for 3 p.m. CST on ESPN+.
