Lexy Griffin Named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS— After her first career goal secured the 2-1 over Troy this past Thursday, Lexy Griffin has earned the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
"It's truly remarkable that our conference members acknowledge the value of diligence, commitment, and a selfless mindset, said Coach El-Zare." Lexy profoundly impacts everyone she meets, embodying the 'we before me' philosophy. I've personally grown as a person and coach thanks to the lessons I've learned from her. I'm exceedingly proud of her achievements thus far and eagerly anticipate her future accomplishments. Congratulations, Lexy!"
The sophomore defender sent a shot to the top left corner of the net about three yards outside the box in the last 14 seconds of the night with the feed from Nakagawa to break the 1-1 tie and record the first conference win of the season.
